About Melissa Austin
Helping adults with neurological conditions think, move, and perform everyday tasks better.
Melissa Austin is a Registered Occupational Therapist, located in Vancouver Canada. With an extensive background working in neurology, Melissa works with adult clients with neurological conditions such as concussion, brain injury, and stroke. She also organizes and hosts educational courses for therapists. Her passion is to provide knowledge and skills to both therapists and clients for better outcomes.
After graduating from McMaster University Melissa began her OT career working in both the community and at a hospital in Toronto. Since moving to Vancouver, she has worked in acute care neurology, in-patient and out-patient acquired brain injury rehab, rehab in the community, spinal cord injury programs as well as the Spasticity Clinic at GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre. Currently she is a Clinical Resource Therapist for neurology and spine populations for Vancouver Coastal Health. Within this role she provides hands on education, consultations on complex cases and care situations, and resources to over 400 OTs working at Vancouver Coastal Health. She is also a Clinical Instructor, Department of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy in the Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia.
